WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP PARK AND RECREATION BOARD

I.               CALL TO ORDER:

The regular meeting of the West Hanover Township Park and Recreation Board was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Chairman Bob Leonard.

IV         PUBLIC COMMENTS

Pati Estheimer, EAC, updated the Park & Recreation Board on the Rain Garden.  Estimate cost of the sign $150.00 from Fast Signs. The sign will be 36 x 24 and made out of Aluminum.  A motion to proceed with installation of a permanent sign was made by Mrs. Turns, seconded by Mrs. Young.  The motion passed unanimously. July 21 will be a Butterfly session at 9:30 am. at Fairville Park.

 

 

V.          PRESENTATIONS/REPORTS

A.    Baseball- Jeff Holt, Baseball Assoc. had a successful Opening Day.  Jeff handed out the history of how the Baseball Field evolved.  The Assoc. made a request to dedicate the midget field as a memorial, in memory of Glen Bechtel  A motion to proceed with installation of a sign, to be placed on the backstop was made by Mrs. Turns, seconded by Mr. Geppert, contingent approval from the Houck Family. The motion passed unanimously.

B.    Ped Path- Mike Geppert looked at proposed step at Skyline Park.  A suggestion was made to make a paved area around the Dumpster for wheel chairs.  A motion  was made by Mrs.Turns for Mr. Geppert to ask Stoner to do this, seconded by Mrs. Young.  The motion passed unanimously.

C.   Fall Fest-  Next meeting will be June 4th at 6:00pm.

 

VII.       APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by  Mrs. Sites, seconded by Mr. Geppert, to approve the minutes of April 18, 2007. The motion passed unanimously.  

 

VIII      TREASURES REPORT-

The Filo and Park Development funds were reviewed by the Park and Recreation Board.

 

IX.        TOWNSHIP STAFF REPORT

Ms. Fesig furnished the Park and Recreation Board with updates on the following Projects:

Rec Center floor will be replaced during the week of June 20-26, 2007.

Maintenance

-Raked out topsoil and will be planting grass next week at Tower location which was at Skyline Park. 

Skyline Grant- All equipment that the Township was responsible for purchasing  for the project has been delivered to the Township building.

Vandalism Lenker park portable toilet was burned down, trash can overturned, beer and whiskey bottles smashed in parking lot. 

Eagle Scout Project- Paul Wilson will be attending the June Park & Recreation meeting. He will be presenting his Trail Project at Fairville Park.

 

X           PLANS FOR REVIEW

A.          F/SB Roger & Alice Cackovic- No new building lots being created.  At this time the Park & Rec Board feels No fee-in-lieu of.  A motion was made by Mrs. Turns for NO Filo Fee at this time, second by Mrs. Young. The motion passed unanimously. 

B           F/SB Olde Towne Hanover- sub division only- Eastern side of Rt. 39, 5 tax parcels/ creating 3 lots out of the 5 tax parcels. No new lots.  A motion was made by Mrs. Turns for NO Filo fee, second by Mr. Geppert and Mrs. Young. The motion passed unanimously. 

C           P/LD Olde Towne Hanover- A total of 23.9 acres, 2 commercial lots, western half Non residential, No Filo.  Eastern half 69 town houses/condos (all residential) open for discussion-  Do we want land, Filo or consider Community building, ball park Filo figure approx. $150.000.?  A discussion on concept. (Will be on next meeting agenda under Old Business).  . 

 

XI.        OLD BUSINESS

A.          Project status report

B.          Log cabin-  electric is getting disconnected and a temporary hookup will be completed by Mr. Tyndale.

C.          Bankshot basketball- Park & Rec Coordinator is working on fence and facility prices.  96ft., 8ft high fence is required; so far I have one quote from Tyson, $3850.00

 

XII        NEW BUSINESS

A.          Skateboard Park- There was some discussion. A motion was made by Mrs. Turns NOT to do anything at this time due to no location and not knowing what the interest is in having a skateboard park, etc. second by Mrs. Young. The motion passed unanimously. 

B           Movie Program Equipment- The portable screen and speaker system was ordered. Cost of equipment is $1887.00, plus freight cost of $285.00.

 

 

XIII      OTHER BUSINESS/CORRESPONDENCE

A.          Summer Recreation Program booklet was handed out.  Our program consists of Tuesday (Field Day trips) and Thursday (daily events) the program was condensed due to Skyline Park being closed for the summer months. 

                      B.       Sight & Sound bus trip has been scheduled for Oct. 13, 2007

C.       Strawberry Social will be held June 8 at 7:00pm. (Linda, Bob, Julie, Jean and Kim have offered to help with this event)

D.       Car & Bike Show will be held August 18, 2007.  Fliers are being placed at Hoffman Ford and Susquehanna Bike, plus handed out at car shows already scheduled.

The monthly meeting of the Park and Recreation Board was adjourned at 8:36 p.m. A motion was made by Mrs. Turns, seconded by Mrs. Young to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
