WEST HANOVER TOWNSHIP PARK AND RECREATION BOARD

I.               CALL TO ORDER:

The regular meeting of the West Hanover Township Park and Recreation Board was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Chairman Leonard.

II.             PUBLIC COMMENTS

None

 

II           PRESENTATIONS/REPORTS

A.    Baseball Association- Mr. Holt reported a very successful season. Mr. Holt introduced the new baseball President, Dave Eckley, to the Park and Recreation Board. The sign for Glen Bechtel was dedicated at the Central Penn Tournament; the sign is not installed yet. Fall Ball will be starting in September, with games being on Saturdays. Mr. Holt did give Dixie a schedule for the Houck Memorials fields, but not the Houck Manor Fields.

B.  Ped Path- No report.

C.  Festival- Dixie reported that everything is scheduled. We need volunteers, sign-up now.

 

IV.        APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A.  A motion was made by Mrs. Turns, seconded by Mr. Geppert, to approve the minutes of July 18, 2007.  The motion passed unanimously, with Mrs. Cassel abstaining.  

 

V.          Treasurer Report-The Filo and Park Development funds were reviewed by the Park and Recreation Board.

 

VI.        TOWNSHIP STAFF REPORT

Maintenance- the Midget concession stand door has been replaced. All the playgrounds have been re-edged, weeded and new wood carpet applied. We had vandalism again at Fairville Park.

Skyline Project- do to some change orders the project will not be completed by September, completion date now is October 15th. Project looks great. Mr. Stoner is doing a great job.

 

VII.       PLANS FOR REVIEW

A.    F/SD Jason Weiser – this is a 2.88 parcel being split into 3 parcels. Mrs. Turns made a motion for FILO and Mrs. Sites seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

B.    P/LD Harper Drive Sleep Inn -No action – Commercial property.

 

VIII.     OLD BUSINESS

A. Project Status report – Reviewed by board. Dixie is working on getting quotes for Park gateway signs.

B.  Log Cabin placement – Tabled to next meeting.

C. Bankshot Basketball – was discussed at BOS workshop, was not well received.

E. Car and Bike Show – Saturday, August 18 at Rec. center, looking for volunteers & judges.

 

 

IX.        NEW BUSINESS

A.                    2008 Budget- the Park and Recreation Board reviewed project list, and discussed the projects Dixie selected for the 2008 budget, the Board voted unanimously to keep the budget the same.

-       Skyline concession stand

-       Bank shot basketball

-       New aluminum picnic tables for Lenker Park & new pavilion at Skyline Park

-       Construct new log cabin

-       Master site plan for Municipal Park

Mr. Geppert made the motion to keep the budget the same, seconded by Mrs. Sites. The motion passed unanimously.

 

X.          CORRESPONDENCE/OTHER BUSINESS

Mr. Geppert attended the East Hanover Townships Peach Festival and suggested that West Hanover Township touches base with them to swap food festivals each year. Also maybe coordinate bus trips with them  Dixie stated that before East Hanover Township BOS relieved their Park and Recreation Coordinator of her duties, they were working together with classes and bus trips.

The monthly meeting of the Park and Recreation Board was adjourned at 8:40p.m.  Mr. Geppert made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Sites. The motion passed unanimously.
