I.           CALL TO ORDER:

The regular Park & Recreation Board meeting opened at 7:10 by Mike Geppert, Chairman.

II.         PUBLIC COMMENTS

NONE

 

 

III.     PRESENTATIONS/REPORTS

          A. Treasurer Report- the Park & Recreation Board reviewed the Filo and Park Development report issued by the

                Secretary/Treasurer. A motion to accept the Treasurer report was made by Linda Turns, second by Jean Sites.    

               Motion passed unanimously.

                The Park and Recreation Board requested a total of what money from FILO needs to be spent.

 

         B.   Ped Path- No Report at this time

 

C. Baseball Association- Report by Dave Eckley, president .  Opening day 10:00 am and Channel 21 will be present.  Baseball Association will have someone remove the equipment from the parking lot.  They will also haul trash bags out of the parking lot.  Baseball and Eagle Scout cleaned up some of the vandalism and painted picnic tables.  Also, cleared trail and cut up trees.  Baseball will be painting Midget Concession stand.  Robert Thomas construction rolled fields. The baseball Association will be replacing the backstop at Midget field (vinyl coated).  They dug out lip at teener field and filled with diamond Tex.  Scoreboard is up and looks GREAT!   Replaced top of batting cage, put in warm up pitcher mound at teener field.  Baseball purchased the diamond Tex at a cost of $10,000. Baseball asked permission to dig out the ground in front of the teener dugouts and fill it in with crush stone, Park and Recreation Coordinator gave them the OK to do this project.

 

 

IV.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion to approve the minutes of March 19, 2008 was made by Linda Turns, second by Jeff Holt.

The motion passed unanimously.

 

 

V. TOWNSHIP STAFF REPORT       

     A.  Maintenance- Park and Recreation Coordinator is getting price quotes to replace the teener concession stand roof.

              Township has an issue with home owners not cleaning up their dog mess in the parks, Skyline Park is loaded with        dog mess along the walking trail, and baseball complained about the dog mess over at Houck Memorial Park. The       Park and Recreation Board requested an article be put in the next newsletter informing the residents of this       problem.

 

 

VI, PLANS FOR REVIEW 

      #08.003 F/SB/LS Evergreen Ridge- (Boarders Rt. 39 and Sleipian Rd.)  A motion for Fee-in-Lieu was made by             Linda , a second by Mike Geppert.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

VII.    OLD BUSINESS

A.    Project Status report – Reviewed by board.

B.    Log Cabin- This project was tabled & removed way way back on the agenda by the Board of Supervisors, due to the cost of the project.

C.    Skyline Concession Stand- No report, waiting on a scope of work from HRG.

D.   Lenker Park Rollerblade Hockey Court-  Chris from HRG gave a report.  After a lengthy discussion a motion was made to present the plan to the Board of Supervisors, with dashboards all around the court by Linda Turns, a second by Jeff Holt. The motion passed unanimously.

 

E.    Municipal Park- Board of Supervisor discussed this project at their workshop meeting; they directed HRG to design a walking path & playground only.

 

VIII. NEW BUSINESS

A.    Setup workshop meeting with the Board of Supervisors-  A motion to set the Board of Supervisors workshop meeting for May 21 at 5:30pm was made by Jeff Holt, a second by Linda Turns.  The motion passed unanimously. The Regular Park and Recreation Board meeting to follow at 7:00 pm.

 

IX.     CORRESPONDENCE/OTHER BUSINESS

       Memo from Dauphin County concerning inventory of Parks and Recreation Facilities was given to each Park & Recreation member for their review. 

 

X.   ADJOURNMENT 

     A motion to adjourn was made by Mike Geppert, a second by Linda Turns. The motion passed unanimously.
