Supervisors
Established in 1842, the
West Hanover Township Board of Supervisors is the elected
governing body of the Township. Based on population, West Hanover Township is classified as a Second Class Township
under PA local government statutes. In Pennsylvania, all Townships of the
Second Class are governed and supervised by an elected Board of
Supervisors. In accordance with the PA Second Class
Township Code (the law the governs the activities of
Townships), the West Hanover Township Board of Supervisors is
charged with the general governance of the Township and the
execution of legislation, executive and administrative powers
in order to ensure the sound fiscal management of the Township
and to secure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens
of the community.
Other duties of the Board of Supervisors
outlined in the Second Class Township Code include:
- Maintaining Township
Equipment.
- Employ persons as may be
necessary for the general conduct of the business of the
Township.
- Authorize attendance of
Township volunteers and staff at conferences, institutes,
schools and conventions.
- Provide the Board of
Auditors information on the construction of roads;
- Provide for the annual tax
duplicate to be prepared and presented to the tax
collector;
- Perform duties and exercise
powers as may be imposed or conferred by law or the rules
and regulations of any agency of the Commonwealth.
The West Hanover Township Board of Supervisors has
five (5) members who are elected at large by Township voters.
Each member of the Board of Supervisors is elected for a term
of six (6) years.

1st and 3rd Monday of each
month at 7:00PM.
Workshops are reserved for the 2nd Monday of each month.
Other meetings may be called as needed following public
notice.
