Yard Waste and Compost Center:
Residents are urged to take advantage of the FREE composting center at the Public Works Building on Fairville Avenue.  During the hours of 8:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday mornings in the Spring and Summer, residents may deposit leaves, grass, sticks and similar yard waste at the compost center.  An attendant will be at the site to assist with the delivery of yard waste and to ensure no trash, junk and metal is mixed with the compost material.  Saturday morning is the only time the Compost Center will be open with an attendant on hand.  However, if staff is available at the Public Works Building, the center may be opened during the week for depositing yard waste.  Residents should call in advance to determine if staff will be available at the Public Works Building to assist with yard waste drop off.  Again, Call the Public Works Building at 652-1054 BEFORE you plan a mid-week delivery.

In a cooperative agreement with Lower Paxton Township, this material is mulched into a compost material and then made available to West Hanover Township residents for application in gardens, landscaping and other purposes.  So, don’t fill up the landfill with leaves and sticks.  Mulch it!
